Old Moat Naturally Occurring Retirement Community Project

Southway Housing Trust is taking the lead in developing a Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NORC) in Old Moat, as part of the Age-Friendly Strategy. A NORC is a community that was not originally built for older people but, over the years, has become home to a large number of older residents.

To help older people remain active participants in their community, a number of options are being considered, which include; developing hubs where health and social care services are brought together and supporting the community to develop projects, which reduce isolation.

The opportunities offered by the NORC will be open to older people living across Old Moat ward and we want to find out what skills and groups are already available in the area.  If you would like to be involved in the project, share your ideas, or receive more information, please contact Cathy Ayrton, the NORC Project Officer, at c.ayrton@southwayhousing.co.uk or by calling 0161 448 4200.
