Professor David Oliver, President of the British Geriatrics Society will deliver this year’s public lecture, “Ageing and frailty: Game changers for our health and care services”.
Older people and their carers often use multiple services and see numerous professionals, risking disjointed care. Our training, values and systems haven't fully caught up with the changing nature of modern health and care systems and we need a sea change in our approach to ageing and health.

The Greater Manchester
Walking Festival involves over 200 free, guided walks in and around
Manchester and districts throughout May.
Whether you're a seasoned walker or a relative 'newbie', the
programme of walks offers something for everyone, whatever your age,
fitness, interests or abilities. They've listed all the walks by area,
date and level of difficulty in the table below to make it easy to find a
walk to suit you. The festival is coordinated by Transport for Greater
Manchester but delivered by many walking groups and charities across the
region. Walks are free, but some groups may ask for a membership fee if
you decide to join them for walks on a regular basis. This is a great
opportunity to dip your toe in the water, try out a walking group near
you or go an explore an area you haven’t visited before.
Keep up-to-date with all festival and general walking news on their Facebook page and Twitter hashtag #GMwalkfest.
