Age Friendly Manchester Design Group is recruiting new members

The group meets every six weeks or so in Manchester City Council and has members from a mix of ages and backgrounds; from architecture, planning, access, housing and research.

The group has worked on projects such as Age-friendly Alexandra Park and an urban design field guide. The focus at the moment is on an age-friendly home design project with Southway Housing and more work in parks.  It is a friendly group, working on innovative projects that are unique in the country.

Monthly Linedance and Social Afternoon - Collyhurst

Second Thursday each month at 12.30-3 pm

Want to learn some very easy linedances? Come to St George's Community Centre, Bothwell Road, off Livesey Street, Collyhurst on the.  Don't want to dance? Come anyway and play board games or just chat and watch.  Cost £2 includes refreshments and raffle.

Northern Moor Gardening Society Show - Saturday 8th August from 2 - 4.30pm

St Michael and All Angels Church on Orton Road, Northern Moor

We are looking for entries for our annual gardening show.  As well as flowers, flower arrangements, fruit and vegetables, there's also a chance to win prizes for crafts such as knitting, crochet, etc or a wide range of culinary crafts like cakes, drinks, pickles and jams.

There's a cafe and tombola.  Everyone's welcome, even if you don't want to enter but just want to look - we'd love to see you!

Participants urgently required for interview study on older adults who do very little or no physical activity

If you are aged 65 years or older and do very little or no physical activity, and you live in one of these areas: Ancoats, Ardwick, Bradford, Cheetham, Clayton, Fallowfield, Gorton, Harpurhey, Hulme, Longsight, Miles Platting, Newton Heath, Moss Side, Rusholme, Sharston or Woodhouse Park, then a researcher would really like to hear your thoughts and experiences.

Researching Age-Friendly Communities – New Manchester Film

Snapshot on the 1945 Election - People’s History Museum - Monday 6 July

12.30pm – 1.30pm  

Did you know the museum holds an archive of over 95,000 photographs?  Go behind the scenes and delve into their unique photo collections, the Labour Party photograph collection and the Communist Party of Great Britain photograph collection.  

In this lunchtime drop-in session, browse through photographs on the theme of the 1945 election and uncover history through the lens. Suitable for adults and young people.
